Founded in 1922, Lloyd’s Choir is a vibrant group of around 60 mixed voices. The choir’s roots are in Lloyd’s of London and the insurance market where many of the members work, but it draws singers from across the City financial community and beyond. Under Jacques Cohen’s direction since 1995, the choir has grown in stature and accomplishment. Its repertoire is wide ranging, from early polyphony to contemporary styles. Recent highlights include performances of Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Brahms Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, and a reprise of Jacques Cohen’s Passion Fragment – a work commissioned by and dedicated to Lloyd’s Choir which was premiered in 2009.

Join Lloyd’s Choir
We are always pleased to welcome new singers. Although we do not hold formal auditions, we offer new members a trial period during which they may be asked to complete some simple vocal exercises. Because of the relatively short rehearsal periods, good sight reading skills are required and members are expected to do extra private study as necessary. Rehearsals normally take place on Monday lunchtimes from 1.05 pm to 2.15 pm at St. Katharine Cree, with extra rehearsals immediately before a concert.
